Agri Insider
Agri Insider is a new agricultural venture launched by the Sunday Business Post newspaper in Ireland, aimed at shaking up and disrupting the established agricultural magazine market. The magazine provides readers with the latest news, insights, and analysis on the agricultural industry, covering everything from farming practices to food production and supply chain management.
The agricultural magazine market in Ireland is dominated by a few established players with a loyal readership. However, with changing industry dynamics and increasing demand for timely and informative content, there was an opportunity to introduce a fresh and innovative approach to agricultural journalism. The challenge for Agri Insider was to carve out a niche for itself and appeal to a broad audience of farmers, industry experts, and enthusiasts.

Objectives
The Sunday Business Post and Agri Insider partnered with me to develop a unique brand identity that would distinguish it from its competitors. I worked closely with the editorial and management team to understand the magazine’s content and target audience, and to develop a brand that would resonate with readers tired of the current industry status quo.
In addition to the brand and identity, I also designed the magazine’s layout and typography, focusing on readability, clarity, and visual appeal. The layout was optimised for both print and digital formats, ensuring a seamless reading experience across all platforms.
Covers: The covers each week had to be carefully chosen and created for maximum newsstand impact and to create a talking point in the agricultural community.
Internal Layout: The internal layout was designed on a simple 4 column grid.
Graphic and Visual Language
An entire system of graphics had to be quickly designed and developed with each part referencing the overall visual language of the magazine. More graphics were added as new magazine sections were added and developed.
Design on the fly
Due to the industry and time pressured nature of the project special sections and features had to be quickly designed up quickly advertisers joined the rush to be part of the new magazine.
Conclusion
Good branding, design and differentiation had been instrumental in establishing Agri Insider quickly as a credible and innovative player in the agricultural magazine market. It immediately attracted a broad and curious readership, including farmers, industry experts, policymakers, and consumers, and has been praised for its informative content, engaging design, and timely coverage of industry events. Unfortunately COVID forced the magazine into a hiatus after 5 issues. It continues today as a trusted agricultural promotional brand for events and exclusive digital content.
